Poem: A Triune Prayer
A Triune Prayer
Jesus our righteousness,
Christ our peace,
Your grace is nothing less
than all we need.
Spirit of wisdom,
of power and grace,
guide us to the kingdom,
help us in this place.
Father of mercies,
abounding in love,
answer our please,
here us from above.
Amen
Upon learning about the Jesus Prayer, I began to implement it into my life, but then discovered an expansion on it that N. T. Wright eloquently expressed, which goes like this: "Almighty Father, Maker of heaven and earth, set up your kingdom in our midst. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Holy Spirit, breath of the living God, renew me and all the world. Amen." I thought this was a lovely and sincere way to create a version of the famous prayer which addressed all parts of the Godhead. After discovering this prayer, I later set out to create my own poetic triune prayer, as I find that the rhyme scheme makes it much easier to remember. The prayer covers thanksgiving, supplication, and aid in an effort to remind us to put our trust in God and let His grace perfect us and be sufficient for us. May this prayer bless you all.
