Stratosphere: a Poem
Clouds float aimlessly through the sky,
in mystery their beauty lies.
From where they come I cannot know,
and none can follow where they go.
Their harrowing journey they accommodate
by elusively changing shape.
And on the way they grant their shade
or nourish with a burst of rain,
their presence is a welcome sight
on summer's day when sun's alight.
And so you see, I'll strive to be
much like the clouds over the sea.
For they bring beauty, delight, and aid
where'ere they go day by day,
and even in their mystery
I find there is great quality.
I find great delight in creation, specifically in the sky. As of late, the clouds have been absolutely majestic and it brings me joy to look up when I am outside or driving and see the beauty therein. How many ways God has granted us gifts! I’m grateful that, regardless of what is going on in my personal life, I can look up at the sky and thank God for the beauty all around us.
I wrote this poem when I was at the beach feeling inspired yet again by the sky. As I contemplated its beauty, I realized all the lessons we could learn for the clouds and put them down in poetry.
Not only do the clouds create beauty throughout the day, especially in the mornings and evenings as the sun rises and sets, but they also serve a purpose, providing rain to nourish the earth, and shade to refresh the weary. In their beauty they serve God, adapting and being carried along as they are needed for His purposes.
I think there is much to learn in that, and that if we stop and observe, we will find a multitude of lessons within nature.
